Sounds, Signals and notes
For a period of 14 days the exhibition rooms of the gallery are turned into a laboratory open to the public for the immediate production of CDs, of a day by day expanding series of unique CDs, a series which preserves and collects sounds, signals and notes - detritus and sediment of events (acoustic and non acoustic/of a caustic and non caustic nature). These events leave no trace on the walls, no imprints or signs other than their numerical, unique specimen of creativity. Each CD is an element of a long, complex equation - ejected from the press, collected into lines on the wall. As a horizon, the opposite wall provides text and picture material, a frieze, the scenery of cable peaks, mixing station valleys, pump works, wires, underground electricity works (amplifier in the cellar), reflecting a panorama rimmed with rugged, proliferating material for thought, which corresponds with the technical construction of recording apparatus reduced to the quintessential, concluded by a CD press which presses the sounds, signals and notes which are sent down cables, intertwined and superimposed; sounds, signals and notes which are recorded by a microphone and witnessed, multiplied, superimposed, mixed, marked out, regulated, pressed and released into freedom. Set free but hermetic.

7000 Book Fire
Book burning to produce a book
Several thousand books are arranged outside in the form of a cone. When the mountain of books is lit, it produces a roaring blaze. Texts are regularly selected from those picked out of the fire by fire jumpers, checked, compiled and then transferred onto a wall of screens. The result: ash and a new book.
The first and only performance on 30th May 1997 in Podewil.
The book "233¡ã Celsius" is released at Konkursbuch Verlag Claudia Gehrke.
